Saab today unveiled the first GlobalEye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft, designed for advanced surveillance.
The aircraft, based on a heavily modified Bombardier Global 6000, combines a suite of sensors into a new extended range version of Saab’s Erieye radar system.
The United Arab Emirates placed the initial order for the AEW&C jets and is due three of the aircraft. Saab pitches the GlobalEye as a Swiss — or Swedish — army knife, fit for surveillance, search and rescue and military operations.
