Turkish Airlines Technic and Pratt & Whitney have begun building a new CFM56(R) and V2500 engine overhaul facility in Istanbul, Turkey. The planned 25,000-square-meter (269,000 sq. ft.) center at Sabiha Gokcen Intl Airport will provide MRO services for up to 200 engines each year and employ up to 550 people, many of whom will be from Turkish Technic. Scheduled to open in the second half of 2009, the center will offer MRO services for the CFM56(R) engine series and the V2500(R)-A5 engine to operators in Turkey and surrounding regions, as well as international customers.
