Honeywell Inks $1 Billion Deal with AirTran

Honeywell won a $1 billion contract with AirTran Airways to supply avionics on new Boeing 737 aircraft and to provide maintenance on the carrier's fleet through 2030. Under the agreement, Honeywell will supply AirTran with avionics portfolio for new aircraft -- up to 150 Boeing 737s. Also, Honeywell will provide maintenance services for all Honeywell equipment on AirTran's entire fleet -- up to 250 aircraft -- including avionics, lighting, mechanical components, Auxiliary Power Unit, wheels and brakes. The selected Honeywell avionics systems include Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System, Airborne Collision Avoidance System, Weather Radar with Forward-Looking Windshear Detection, Flight Data Recorder, Cockpit Voice Recorders, Quantum Line Communications & Navigation System, Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System and Flight Data Acquisition & Management System.
