Porter Airlines continues climbing with Newark expansion

Restores 7 daily flights in September

TORONTO, July 21 /PRNewswire/ - Porter Airlines will fly a full schedule of seven roundtrip flights every weekday between Toronto City Centre Airport (TCCA) and Newark Liberty International Airport as of Sept. 3. In addition, Porter will operate three roundtrips on Saturdays and six on Sundays.

This year-round schedule is approved by the FAA through summer 2009. With 44 weekly roundtrip flights, this represents a 16 per cent increase over Porter's current schedule and a 10 per cent increase compared to its inaugural March 31 schedule.

"Our continued efforts working with the FAA and other airlines have resulted in an even better schedule than we initially started with," said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. "We're committed to the FAA's wider goal of reducing air traffic congestion in the New York area and know this can be achieved even as we look to add flights over the next 12 months."

Porter's September schedule includes slightly modified departure times and the restoration of late afternoon flights in each direction that were suspended as part of the summer schedule. The last flight from Newark is now scheduled to arrive at TCCA by 9:55 p.m. The complete weekday schedule will operate as follows:

    ---------------------------------------
    TCCA departures Newark departures
    ---------------------------------------
    6:45 a.m. 6:45 a.m.
    ---------------------------------------
    9:00 a.m. 9:15 a.m.
    ---------------------------------------
    11:15 a.m. 11:30 a.m.
    ---------------------------------------
    1:30 p.m. 1:30 p.m.
    ---------------------------------------
    3:30 p.m. 4:00 p.m.
    ---------------------------------------
    6:15 p.m. 5:55 p.m.
    ---------------------------------------
    8:30 p.m. 8:25 p.m.
    ---------------------------------------

"We're adding flights as regular business traffic returns in September and demand continues to grow on the popular TCCA-Newark route," added Deluce. "More Saturday and Sunday service is also a bonus for the many leisure travellers looking for weekend escapes."

Porter flies from its own dedicated terminal at TCCA, one of the most convenient urban airports in the world, situated just minutes from downtown. All Porter passengers enjoy a premium level of service that includes access to a modern, comfortable and stylish lounge at TCCA, complimentary onboard wine and beer, and a spacious cabin environment with leather seats and extra legroom.
