Orbitz Asks Travelers 'How Fast Can You Fill The Plane?'

CHICAGO, July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Orbitz.com (http://www.orbitz.com), today launches a first-of-its-kind promotion that will send one traveler and 300 of their closest friends and family on a luxury escape. And all they have to do is fill an entire plane! Using the power of social networking, the Orbitz Fill the Plane promotion (http://www.orbitz.com/filltheplane) gives travelers the opportunity to win a dream vacation to Aruba, Las Vegas or Orlando in a race to be the first to secure 300 other travelers to join them on their plane.

"To celebrate the launch of Orbitz Price Assurance, a ground-breaking service in the travel industry, we're sending a plane full of 300 travelers on vacation," said Tom Russell, group vice president of brand marketing for Orbitz Worldwide. "The uniqueness and enormity of the Fill the Plane promotion characterizes the kind of innovation that Orbitz has made its legacy over the years."

How To Fill The Plane

-- Starting at 12:01 a.m. CST on July 30, and continuing until August 20, 2008 or until the first plane has been filled, whichever comes first, U.S. residents of the 48 contiguous states over the age of 21 can log onto http://www.orbitz.com/filltheplane and register to fill a plane, heading to Aruba, Las Vegas or Orlando.

-- As the first to register the plane, the entrant, or "pilot", has full license to customize their virtual plane. Online tools enable "pilots" to manage the process of filling their plane, and as an added incentive to register a plane, "pilots" are given first-class airfare and a hotel room upgrade if they win.

-- The "pilot" of the plane can invite two friends and/or family per day to join their plane by sending an email with the contest details and diagram of the plane. Recipients can either log on and "board as a passenger" or create a plane of their own to fill. Recipients can also send invites to two additional passengers per day.

-- Both "pilots" and "passengers" can campaign for a particular destination on the message board, and because participants are allowed to jump from plane to plane, each "pilot" is given 20 first-class seats to lure plane-hoppers back onto their plane.

-- The first pilot to fill their plane will win a free flight and three-night hotel stay for themselves and all 300 fellow passengers. In order to win, 80 percent of passengers must agree on which of the following destinations they want to visit:

LAS VEGAS -- Luxor Hotel

Luxuriously designed with modern conveniences and amenities, the stylish accommodations at Luxor Hotel & Casino present spectacular city views and grand indulgences. The iconic pyramid of Luxor Hotel & Casino climbs 350 feet into the desert sky and is crowned with the world's brightest beam of light. Contained within the walls of the great pyramid are plush contemporary rooms and indulgent spa suites that provide a relaxing respite to the glitz and excitement of Las Vegas.

ARUBA -- The Westin Aruba Resort

The Westin Aruba Resort is a perfect island destination combining the charm of the Dutch Caribbean with the modern convenience of a luxury hotel. Offering a magnificent beach, glittering casino and a host of outdoor pleasures, the Westin Aruba Resort caters to both young and old with first-class entertainment and an exquisite resort experience.

ORLANDO -- Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando(R) Resort

A tropical paradise that transports you to the isles of the South Pacific, the exotic Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando enchants visitors with swaying palm trees, a lagoon pool, authentic Asian cuisine and exclusive on-site hotel guest benefits including free Universal Express ride access to skip the regular lines. Universal Orlando Resort is where blockbusters come to life -- and each person on this vacation will also receive a 2-day/2-park admission ticket to experience some of the world's most innovative theme park attractions based on pop culture's most compelling films and stories. Flagship experiences featured in Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure theme parks include "The Simpsons Ride," "Revenge of the Mummy -- The Ride," "The Incredible Hulk Coaster" and "The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man."
