WACO, Texas,
Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- FreeFlight Systems, an international
supplier of professional-grade avionics systems for commercial and military
aircraft, announces the availability of the 4 MB nav database memory upgrade
for its TSO-approved Approach and Approach Plus GPS Navigation Management
Systems (including the I/O models) and equivalent legacy equipment with the
Trimble name. This memory upgrade solution was developed and implemented in
collaboration with Jeppesen to continue the support of the TSO-certified
approach capable GPS navigation management systems.

In parallel with the 4 MB data card upgrade, distribution of current
NavData(R) (via cards or SkyBound) for the FreeFlight Systems Approach series
will continue through December 2008 with NavData(R) cycle 0813. For the
FreeFlight Systems Approach Plus series, it will continue six months later, or
until June 2009, with cycle 0906. With an emphasis on flying legally under
IFR, owners and operators of the affected equipment will need to upgrade their
FreeFlight Systems Approach and Approach Plus GPS Navigation Management
Systems by these dates to take advantage of the newer Jeppesen data formats.
The change will entail a minor hardware modification, a software upgrade,
and a higher capacity 4 MB data card. With the 4 MB upgrade, pilots will
have continued access to the Jeppesen NavData(R) which includes a
comprehensive, worldwide avionics database of information on airports,
approaches, SIDS, STARS, VORs, NDBs, intersections, and airspace boundaries.
"Working together with the Jeppesen team, our systems engineers have
designed a solution that will extend the life of our family of IFR capable
TSO'd GPS navigation management systems for many years to come," stated Tim
Taylor, president and CEO, FreeFlight Systems. "With this 4 MB upgrade our
customers will experience at least a doubling of the nav data memory size
which will enable them to take advantage of the continued growth of the
Jeppesen avionics database."
FreeFlight Systems has established a "4 MB Upgrade Program" where its
customers in the United States may contact their avionics dealers or
FreeFlight Systems to arrange for their TSO-certified approach capable GPS
navigation management systems to be returned to its Factory to receive the
necessary hardware and software upgrades, along with the new data card.
International customers may return their systems to FreeFlight Systems, or to
one of FreeFlight Systems' Factory Authorized Repair Centers identified in the
dealer section of the FreeFlight Systems website,
http://www.freeflightsystems.com. Due to growing demand, the Factory update
will take up to 15 working days. Additional information about the 4 MB
Upgrade Program can be obtained by contacting FreeFlight Systems' Technical
Support Team at 800.487.4662 or 1+254.662.0000, or visiting
