BANGALORE, India, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), reinforced its commitment to India as a key growth market and strong technology partner for civil and defense aero- power products and services at the Aero India 2007 airshow in Bangalore this week.

"The growth in the Indian aerospace market has been exponential and the prospects continue to be strong for years to come," said James Masotti, vice president, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines and Services. "We are proud to be a part of that growth by powering the commercial aircraft of airlines across the country and supporting India with dependable engines, as we have for more than 50 years."

Pratt & Whitney commercial engines power aircraft for India's top airlines including Air India, Indian Airlines, Kingfisher Airlines, Blue Dart and Air Sahara. Pratt & Whitney's partnership, International Aero Engines, produces the V2500 engines that power aircraft operated by Kingfisher, Air Deccan, Go Air and Indigo. Pratt & Whitney Canada produces engines that power the ATR fleet at Jet Airways, Air Deccan, Kingfisher Airlines and Alliance Air. The company is also pursuing opportunities with the Indian Air Force to power military aircraft to support India's defense.

"At Pratt & Whitney, we've taken a long-term approach to the Indian market," said Bill Begert, vice president, international programs and business development, Pratt & Whitney Military Engines. "As we have for decades, we will continue to partner with our customers in India to provide the power solutions that best meet their needs. We hope to support India's defense with dependable engines and services for the Indian Air Force."

In addition to existing offices in Bangalore and Mumbai, Pratt & Whitney recently opened a new office in New Delhi. In 2002, Pratt & Whitney formed a partnership with Infotech Enterprises, which provides engineering and information technology enabled services as well as geospatial data and technology services.

Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines.
