DayJet Looking at Treasure Coast

DayJet has been meeting with business groups in an effort to extend its service to St. Lucie County International Airport in Fort Pierce, Fla. and hopes to gain the 50 members necessary to make an investment in upgrading the airport from a DayStop to a DayPort, according to the area TC Palm Newspaper.
The business community in an area known as the Treasure Coast, would like to see the upgrade, especially the airport and the economic development council.
A DayStop affords Fort Pierce users access to 14 designated airports but a DayPort expands that to 60. The upgrade is expected to lower prices as well as DayJet builds its economies of scale. Members agree to take four flights a year for $1 to $3 per mile. The carrier plans only one more addition this year and has given the community a deadline.
