ArdentMC Delivers Enhanced Situational Awareness During DHS Exercise

CHANTILLY, Va., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Ardent Management Consulting (ArdentMC) successfully provided integration support to the Office of National Capital Region Coordination for the National Level Exercise 2-08 (NLE 2-08) May 1 - 8. The NLE 2-08 tested and assessed continuity of operations procedures and the federal inter-agency response to natural and terrorist threats. DHS completed the exercise simulating a category 4 hurricane approaching Washington, D.C., requiring a synchronized relocation of key personnel from the nation's capital to designated locations.

"ArdentMC was honored to be a part of NLE 2-08," said Brandon LaBonte, CEO of ArdentMC. "DHS has made some great strides in leveraging existing infrastructure and technology to increase situational awareness and inter-agency collaboration."

ArdentMC consultants worked with DHS Federal Emergency Management Agency staff to deliver tools that allowed mapping systems to show the status of relocation check-ins. In compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 goals, validation systems were utilized during NLE 2-08 to update information on the map in real time and provide situational awareness to multiple DHS entities involved in the exercise.

ArdentMC also equipped some relocation teams with customized BlackBerry(R) smartphones using in-house developed software to deliver real-time location information back to DHS. As personnel arrived at the U.S. Park Policy Rally Point and traveled via helicopter to their appropriate location, DHS maintained a real-time view of site status.

Utilizing broad knowledge of DHS, ArdentMC consultants were able to apply existing DHS tools, custom applications, and mission knowledge to create new capabilities supporting this year's exercise.
