Rotorcraft Report: Florida County Gets New Bell 407

ALEA 2008

Texas Aviation Services has delivered a Bell Helicopter Model 407 to the Volusia County, Fla. Sheriff’s Dept.

This new 407 is one of three to be used in the sheriff’s emergency medical service and law enforcement air support missions for the county on Florida’s east-central coast. More than 500,000 people live in the county, which includes the city of Daytona Beach.

Texas Aviation Services provided expanded, mission-critical customizing and systems integration modifications to support law enforcement as the primary mission of the aircraft, with additional EMS technologies for transporting injured personnel. Major technical features included a state-of-the-art law enforcement suite, with moving maps for camera and thermal imaging overlays. Onboard medical technologies include oxygen, air, vacuum and critical care primary life support systems. The Texas Aviation Services paint team also provided a redesigned livery to match the county’s ground units.

"We’re proud to be able to provide services for an organization that protects and saves lives on a daily basis," said Mike Bashlor, president of Texas Aviation Services. "This new Bell 407 is only one in an ongoing series of Volusia projects in our pipeline. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with them."
