U.K. Police Dept Receives New MD 902

The £4.3-million ($7.7-million) helicopter has replaced the Greater Manchester Police’s previous MD 902 Explorer at its base in Barton. The new helo is fitted with high-def daylight and thermal imaging camera systems, moving map technology that is linked to the cameras, and a public address system that will enable the officers to directly communicate with the public and criminals. According to Manchester Evening News, GMP's previous MD 902 carried out nearly 5,500 assignments and was involved in the arrests of 700 suspects last year. The £4.3-million price tag was offset by £1.45m recouped from a trade in of the force’s original MD 902. The GMP also received a government grant of £1.28m. For related news
