Rolls-Royce Streamlines Production

Rolls-Royce is spooling up a streamlined facility for production of Model 250 and new, 300-shp-class RR300 turboshaft at its Indianapolis site. The re-engineered production lines incorporate "lean manufacturing" principles and is set up to produce hundreds of both engine types simultaneously, said Ken Roberts, acting president of Rolls' helicopter business. The RR300 is being fielded to power Robinson Helicopter's first turbine-powered helicopter, the R66, and Schweizer Aircraft's new Model 434. For related news
