China's Own Helicopter Entity Finds Funding

On Jan. 15, Tianjin Free Trade Zone and China Aviation Industry Corporation jointly invested in a program to create China Aviation Industry Helicopter Co., Ltd. (CAIHC) The joint venture will bring the dream of what it calls “…a top-class R&D base and final assembly base of Chinese helicopters” to China. CAIHC mainly plans to produce helicopters with 100 percent intellectual property rights and 100 percent independent brand. The investment is currently valued at 8 billion yuan ($1.2 billion USD), and is intended to help China meet its goal of 10,000 helicopters by 2020. For related news
