Selex Sensors and Airborne Systems won a $39 million contract from AgustaWestland to provide the multi-mode e-scan surveillance radar for the British Ministry of Defense’s “Future Lynx” helicopter program. Under the contract, the Selex S&AS Seaspray 7000E radar, which has active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar technology, will be installed on the Royal Navy’s Surface Combatant Maritime Rotorcraft (SCMR), a variant of the Future Lynx helicopter Selex Sensors and Airborne Systems, a U.K.-based Finmeccanica company, said the AESA radar win builds on a contract awarded by Lockheed Martin for the Common Processor of the Blue Kestrel radar on the Royal Navy’s Merlin Capability Sustainment Plus program. The Future Lynx design is a development of the existing Lynx helicopter, which is in service with the Royal Navy and British Army and many other international operators.  It incorporates an improved airframe, new engines and a modern avionics suite.
