InterSense, Inc. won a contract from L-3 Communications Link Simulation and Training division to supply five additional suites of its IS-900 inertial-acoustic helmet tracking system to support the U.S. Army’s Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (AVCATT) program. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. InterSense, a Bedford, Mass.-based precision motion technology company, said the AVCATT program is a reconfigurable system used for collective and combined arms training and mission rehearsal through networked simulators in a simulated battlefield environment. InterSense said its IS-900 product suite delivers precise and accurate wide area, interference-free head, hand and object tracking. In order to meet the requirements for each training mission, the simulator must be quickly adapted to multiple cockpit platforms –– including the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior, AH-64A Apache, AH-64D Longbow Apache, CH-47D Chinook and UH-60A/L Blackhawk helicopters.
