The long-awaited third Inmarsat-4 satellite will be launched Aug. 14, Inmarsat announced Tuesday. The launch will take place from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan and if successful will complete the global constellation of Inmarsat-4 spacecraft providing mobile satellite services to users all over the world. The Inmarsat-4 satellites will provide an array of satcom communications to aircraft around the world. A new spate of systems entering service later this year are expected to utilize the new satellite’s capabilities.
