Jet Public, a European business jet operator based in Lisbon, Portugal, selected Aircell’s SwiftBroadband system for its fleet. Covering 110 systems, the order represents the largest SwiftBroadband system order ever placed, according to the companies. The announcement was made at this week’s European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva. The system allows passengers to use their Wi-Fi-enabled Smartphones for e-mail during flight, and allows passengers to use the system’s integrated cabin handsets to make voice calls. The first Aircell-equipped Jet Republic aircraft is scheduled to enter service in September 2009.
