OnAir, a joint venture of Airbus and SITA based in Geneva, announced a deal with Libyan Airlines to install its Mobile OnAir in-flight passenger communications services on Libyan Airlines’ new fleet of seven Airbus A320s flying routes across Europe and the Middle East. The airline expects delivery of the aircraft in 2010. The system allows passengers to use their personal electronic devices while in flight to make and receive phone calls, send and receive text messages and e-mails, and access the Internet. OnAir said to date its service has operated more than 40,000 fully connected SwiftBroadband flights.
