Nav Canada has acquired the majority interest in Searidge Technologies Inc., a Quebec-based provider of video systems to air traffic control and airport markets, the companies announced Thursday. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Nav Canada, the country’s Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP), said the acquisition enhances its strategy that allows other ANSPs and airports around the world to take advantage of ATM technology solutions, which it has provided to customers on three continents. Nav Canada said it has already invested $1.4 billion modernizing the Canadian civil air navigation system.
“Nav Canada believes in the potential of intelligent video technology to drive the adoption of new methods to support air traffic surveillance at airports. Searidge continues to demonstrate innovation and leadership in this space and together we intend to bring to market proven solutions that meet strict industry standards,” said John Crichton, president and CEO of Nav Canada.
