Expanded Capabilities with Broader Product Offerings
For more than 70 years, Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (CarlisleIT) has been delivering highly reliable products to aerospace, defense, medical, industrial and other markets. Originally founded as the Tensolite Company in 1940, CarlisleIT has grown dramatically and now encompasses many recognized brands beyond Tensolite, including CDI, ECS, Jerrik and QMI. CarlisleIT is now a full-service solution provider that offers high-performance connectors, cable/cable assemblies, filter connectors, complex harnesses, integrated installation kits and ARINC trays, racks and shelf assemblies. CarlisleIT offers engineering and certification services with FAA certified DER, DAR and DMIR personnel on staff. All of our facilities are ISO9001 and AS9100 registered.
With the acquisition of Jerrik in September 2009, CarlisleIT expanded its capabilities to encompass highly engineered military and aerospace filter connectors that are designed to minimize/eliminate electromagnetic interference (EMI) and incorporate electromagnetic pulse (EMP) protection, which is more commonly referred to as transient voltage suppression (TVS).
CarlisleIT Jerrik’s high reliability, high performance products serve many industries, including commercial and military avionics, transportation, automotive and telecommunications. This facility brings an added expertise to the company that enables it to design connectors to several military specifications including MIL-DTL -38999, which is considered the “gold standard†for performance in many environments.
CarlisleIT Jerrik’s latest innovation is a printed circuit board (PCB) design that incorporates the TVS diodes directly into the PCB adjacent to the contacts they protect. This newly patented technology saves weight, size and cost, which is critical in high performance applications. With a little more shell length, CarlisleIT Jerrik can also include an EMI filter array in the same package.
In October 2009, CarlisleIT acquired Electronic Cable Specialists, Inc. (ECS), a leading designer and manufacturer of electrical and structural products and services for the aviation and industrial markets. With the combination of CarlisleIT and ECS, the company now offers more customer-specific solutions ranging from individual electrical and structural products to fully integrated systems that support airframe manufacturers, aircraft operators and electronic equipment OEMs worldwide.
The acquisition of ECS adds more electrical, mechanical and systems engineers to provide product design and certification services for the company’s customers. Also, CarlisleIT ECS specifically offers worldwide Aircraft on Ground (AOG) support, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and has 90 supplemental type certifications (STC) with several more pending.
This spring, the Airline Avionics Institute (AAI) awarded Merritt DeBuhr, a CarlisleIT ECS manager for Integrated Products, the Volare Award for his outstanding achievement as the lead industry editor contributing to ARINC Report 828 concerning Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) standardization. From the onset of the ARINC 828 meetings, DeBuhr participated as an active contributor and industry editor for the ARINC 828 specification documentation, which has lead to the development of EZMountâ„¢ EFB mounting solutions. EZMountâ„¢ EFB mounting solutions from CarlisleIT ECS are designed, with minor interface modifications, to work with all available EFB systems and aircraft cockpit configurations.
CarlisleIT’s commitment to innovation, global manufacturing and continuous improvement through the Carlisle Operating System (COS) make it ideally suited to support your most demanding programs and applications. Headquartered in St. Augustine, Fla., CarlisleIT has operations in Arizona, California, Florida, Washington, Wisconsin and China.
