TE Connectivity signed a multi-year supply contract with Lumexis, based in Irvine, Calif., to supply its rugged fiber optic systems for Lumexis’s in-flight entertainment products, via its Fiber to the Screen (FTTS) technology. The companies made the announcement at last year’s Paris Air Show.
“We selected TE Connectivity as a supply partner early in our development to tap into their advanced fiber optics technology,” said Lumexis CEO Doug Cline. “We also wanted to lock in a source of uninterrupted supply to support our rapidly expanding demand.”
The FTTS fiber-optic backbone and interconnect scheme provides efficient installation, which in turn lowers the revenue loss from time out of service. To meet the challenge, Lumexis partnered with TE to develop the fiber-optic technology. The FTTS system combines ARINC 801 fiber-optic interfaces with a flexible routing approach that allows room for growth, while providing long-term affordability through the lower installation and applied costs, according to TE Connectivity.
