Nav Canada selected Saab Sensis Corp.’s multilateration system for surface surveillance at Calgary International Airport, the companies said Monday.

Saab Sensis said its system will allow for improved all-weather surface coverage of the runways, taxiways and terminal areas of the airport. In addition, Nav Canada will be deploying Saab Sensis VeeLo NextGen vehicle locators for tracking vehicles operating on the airport surface.

“The addition of Saab Sensis multilateration and vehicle locators at Calgary will complement existing surface movement radar to give Nav Canada’s air traffic controllers improved situational awareness. This will help meet Nav Canada and the Calgary Airport Authority’s goal of improved efficiency,” said Kim Troutman, Nav Canada vice president of engineering.
