Metron Aviation, based in Dulles, Va., is opening an office in Egg Harbor Township, N.J., near FAA’s William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) to further research and development support of the FAA’s Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) initiatives.
Metron Aviation is a prime contractor on Systems Engineering 2020 (SE-2020) SIR1 Set-Aside contract, FAA’s strategic program for implementing NextGen. “Our facility in New Jersey will allow us to focus more resources and to fully support the research that takes place at the WJHTC to ensure the success of NextGen,” said Jim Gaughan, executive vice president and general manager of Advanced Research and Engineering, Metron Aviation.
“I’ve long said that the FAA’s NextGen project is critical to South Jersey’s economic future, building upon the FAA Technical Center’s reputation as the premier facility for aviation research and development in the nation. National companies with deep roots in the aviation and security industries also recognize the strategic importance of having their operations here,” said Congressman Frank LoBiondo (NJ-02). “The opening of Metron Aviation’s office in Egg Harbor Township – and hiring of local engineers and support staff – is yet another sign of the force multiplier effect of NextGen for South Jersey.”
