Jana Murphy
Saab Sensis, based in Syracuse, N.Y., named Jana Murphy chief of its Washington, D.C., operations. Murphy will be responsible for leading the company’s government, legislative and industry affairs.
Murphy has more than 15 years of public policy and federal government agency experience. Prior to joining Saab Sensis, she served at FAA since 2007, most notably as the FAA chief of staff. Before that, she held senior positions at the U.S. Department of Transportation and on Capitol Hill with Congressman Robin Hayes (R-N.C.).
Robert Randall
Universal Avionics Systems, based in Tucson, Ariz., promoted Robert Randall to OEM sales manager. Randall is affiliated with Universal’s U.S. Midwest office in Wichita, Kan., with much of his work based out of a satellite office in Tulsa, Okla. His overall responsibility will be developing and maintaining existing sales of Universal’s products to OEMs.
Randall has more than 30 years of avionics maintenance, testing, sales and management experience. Previously, he was Universal’s Midwest regional sales manager. Randall is a Navy veteran and a licensed A&P mechanic.
Tom Herring, Roy Minson
AeroVironment, based in Monrovia, Calif., promoted Tom Herring to the newly established position of chief operating officer. He will focus on the planning and execution of the company’s annual operating plan and on operational excellence. Previously, Herring was senior vice president and UAS general manager and Minson was vice president and deputy general manager.
The company also promoted Roy Minson to senior vice president and general manager of the unmanned aircraft system (UAS) business segment. Minson joined AeroVironment in 2010 after nearly 30 years of experience in defense and commercial markets to serve as vice president and deputy general manager for the business segment.

Chris Kubasik was named CEO and Marillyn Hewson president and chief operating officer (COO) of Lockheed Martin, effective Jan. 1, 2013, following the retirement of CEO Bob Stevens.
Kubasik has served as president and COO since 2010. He previously was executive vice president of the Electronic Systems business area and before that was the company’s chief financial officer.
Hewson has been executive vice president of the Electronic Systems business area since 2010. She has been with the company for nearly 30 years, holding leadership positions on the corporate staff and in three of the corporation’s four businesses.
Lillian Zarrelli Ryals
The MITRE Corporation, based in McLean, Va., appointed Lillian Zarrelli Ryals vice president and deputy general manager of its Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD). In this role, Ryals will be responsible for strategic planning, sponsor and stakeholder engagement and work program oversight.
Ryals has more than 30 years of experience working in the aviation sector across a range of National Airspace System (NAS) modernization and operations activities. She has been leading CAASD’s work in air traffic management, communication navigation and surveillance, system operations, safety and security for FAA.

Gulfstream Aerospace appointed William Clarey a sales director in the company’s North American Sales, East Division, Mid-Atlantic Region. He is based in Northern Virginia.
Previously, Clarey worked for Hawker Beechcraft business jets as the Pacific Northwest sales director. He has also held sales positions with Phoenix-based Cutter Aviation and Boise, Idaho-based Western Aircraft.
Steve White
Southeast Aerospace (SEA), based in Melbourne, Fla., named Steve White program manager. He will be responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of special missions projects for the company.
Most recently, White was the lead supervisor for the 920th MXS Autopilot/Instrument shop at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla. He has more than 35 years of avionics experience, serving in the U.S. Air Force as an avionics maintenance technician on F-4 and F-16 fighter aircraft, as well as C-130 and H-60 combat search and rescue aircraft for 34 years.
Mike Davis
Stevens Aviation, based in Greenville, S.C., appointed Mike Davis as avionics manager for its Greenville facility. Davis has more than 15 years of experience in avionics sales, installation and maintenance cycles.
Previously Davis worked with Aviation Management Group, Garrett Aviation and Bombardier Aerospace.

West Star Aviation named Julie Timmons corporate aircraft interior sales manager at its East Alton, Ill., facility. She will be responsible for overseeing all interior and exterior projects at this location.
Timmons began her career in corporate aircraft interior and exterior modifications more than 20 years ago. The majority of her experience is in the interior and exterior upgrade sector of corporate aircraft, plus overall business management.
