Sagetech Corp. has joined the Aireon venture, subcontracting with Harris Corp. to provide automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) signal processing technology for Harris Corp.’s receivers.
The Aireon venture, which includes Iridium, Nav Canada, ITT Exelis, Harris and NEXA Capital Partners, will be putting ADS-B receivers on the Iridium NEXT satellite constellation, which will be launched in 2015. Putting the space-qualified receivers on the satellites has the potential to bring global, real-time aircraft surveillance for air navigation service providers (ANSP), the companies say. More
Working with Harris, Sagetech will deliver the ADS-B signal processing technology for each of the receivers. Sagetech also will deliver the firmware licenses that decode the ADS-B messages from aircraft.
"We are thrilled that Sagetech has been selected by Harris to play an important role in the development of hosted payload receivers for Aireon," said Sagetech President Kelvin Scribner. "Sagetech’s expertise in ADS-B technology positions us to be an important asset on this project."
