Colombian charter airline SEARCA will be the launch customer for a fleet of Beechcraft 1900D aircraft retrofitted with an STC Garmin G950 glass panel technology package from AMI Aviation Services.
AMI said it expects the G950 avionics package to be available commercially by the second quarter of 2013. The G950 glass cockpit is ADS-B Out compliant and provides weight reduction for the aging 1900D cockpit.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to team with SEARCA, AeroMech and Garmin to bring to market an affordable cockpit upgrade that delivers tangible operational cost benefits, improved situational awareness and safety, as well as unparalleled reliability in a presentation instantly familiar to scores of pilots who have progressed through the training ranks with Garmin cockpits,” said Paul Vermast, vice president of sales and marketing at AMI.
