Rockwell Collins reached an agreement with South African Airways (SAA) for its PAVES 2 [programmable audio video entertainment system] in-flight entertainment (IFE) suite for the carrier’s new and existing Airbus A320s.

PAVES features the Airshow 3D moving map and a high definition media server (HDMS) with 160 gigabytes of digital audio and video storage capacity. The system comes in a single four modular concept unit electronics bay-mounted box, and will be installed on 20 new and two existing A320s in SAA’s fleet.
The IFE agreement comes following SAA’s recent selection of a suite of communications, surveillance and navigation avionics from Rockwell Collins.
