Positronic Industries, based in Springfield, Mo., added an 8.20mm low-profile version to the Scorpion power/signal connector series.
In the low-profile version, the module options include size 12 contacts, size 20 contacts, size 22 contacts and blanks/spacers. Contacts are rated up to 55 amps for size 12, 12 amps for size 20 and 3 amps for size 22 contacts. Contact resistance values are as low as 1 milliohm for standard conductivity contacts and 0.7 milliohms for high conductivity contacts, the company said.

LED Taxi Lights
Astronics, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Luminescent Systems, teamed with Hawker Beechcraft Corp. (HBC) to provide LED landing and taxi lights for HBC’s Beechcraft King Air family.
Astronics is supplying its 84058 family of LED landing and taxi lights. HBC intends to offer these lights in retrofit kits for existing aircraft through their extensive network of factory-owned and authorized service centers.
Astronics’ LED lighting solution replaces the aircraft’s existing filament-based lighting system, dramatically reducing maintenance costs and power consumption, according to the company.

Satellite Office
Lincoln, Neb.-based Duncan Aviation and partner Flightcraft have opened a new avionics repair facility in Portland, Ore.
The new shop is Duncan’s 30th satellite facility in the United States. The facility will focus on avionics installation and repair services for operators using Portland International Airport.

Connectivity STC
The Simphone Chorus cabin communications system from TrueNorth Avionics received a supplemental type certificate (STC) for installation on a Cessna Citation 560, owned and operated by Tomlinson Aviation Services (TAS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian-based construction company R.W. Tomlinson.
The STC, developed and completed by Duncan Aviation, of Battle Creek, Mich., includes a complete connectivity system include TrueNorth’s Simphone Chorus and SwiftBroadband 200 systems, Wi-Fi capability, and handsets (both wired and wireless). The STC applies to both Chorus and Duo editions of the system.

Distributor Agreements
Honeywell established a global network of Condition-Based Maintenance Systems (CBMS) distributors. The network agreements include previous CBMS distributors — Diagnostic Solutions, Derco, Hope Aero, Eurotech, Kaigai, Master Tech, Merlinhawk, Telemeter and Vibratech — and new distributors Beijing Andawell Science & Technology in China and Transworld Aviation in the United Arab Emirates.
The new network will provide enhanced worldwide coverage with the added benefits of onsite or local technical support; native language support for sales, field service and training; and troubleshooting of Honeywell’s CBMS solutions, the company said.
New network offices are open in China and United Arab Emirates, with other local offices planned for the United Kingdom and Australia. In-region distributor support is also offered in multiple locations in the Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and United States, according to Honeywell.

Professional Resources In System Management (PRISM), based in Greenwood Village, Colo., has updated its Safety Management System (SMS) packaging and pricing for helicopter operators. The PRISM Essential and Professional subscription package provides tools to assist aviation companies as they implement and manage an effective SMS program.

ADS-B TSO
Garmin received FAA Technical Standard Order (TSO) authorization and Approved Model List Supplemental Type Certificate (AML STC) approval for its GDL 88 series dual-link ADS-B solution for certified aircraft. With these certifications, the GDL 88 is approved for installation on most Part 23 fixed-wing aircraft.
The GDL 88 provides an ADS-B rule-compliant system for aircraft operating in the United States and below 18,000 feet. The GDL 88 also brings the added benefit of access to advanced traffic information and subscription-free weather for aircraft flying at any altitude.
The innovative dual-link capability allows the GDL 88 to receive both the 978 MHz UAT and 1090 MHz frequency bands to provide the most comprehensive level of traffic situational awareness.

HGS Certification
Rockwell Collins’ Head-up Guidance System (HGS) with enhanced vision for Bombardier Challenger 605 is now approved by FAA for low visibility approaches to 100 feet.
The system, which had previously been FAA certified for situational awareness, achieved the new level of certification with the addition of the high-resolution Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS) sensor, the company said.
When the runway environment is sensed and projected on Rockwell Collins’ HGS, Challenger 605 operators can continue on final approach below minimums to 100 feet above ground level before needing a visual runway view with their naked eye.

Enhanced Wi-Fi STC
Pro Star Aviation, based in Londonderry, N.H., added the Cobham Aviator Wi-Fi handset for the Cobham Aviator 200 SwiftBroadband System using Pro Star Aviation’s supplemental type certificate Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. model PC-12/45/47/47E aircraft installations.
The Cobham Aviator Wireless Handset and Aviator Wireless Handset Cradle will be made available as an option to complement or replace the hardwired handset. Connecting to the Aviator 200 wireless access point will allow Voice over Internet Protocol calls using Inmarsat’s SwiftBroadband Advanced Multiband Excitation.

ARINC 664 System
Data Device Corp. (DDC), of Bohemia, N.Y., and TechSAT, of Germany, are combining their resources to offer AFDX/ARINC 664 data bus systems. TechSAT’s AFDX technology, which has been used in the test and integration of the Airbus A350/A380 and the Boeing 787, is now offered by DDC in the DD-82101F AFDX/ARINC 664 PMC card.
The DD-82101F, which is also available in PCI and cPCI form factors, provides two full duplex AFDX/ARINC 664 network interfaces that can be operated in either independent or dual-redundant mode, and additionally offers comprehensive error injection/detection, filtering, and triggering features.

LED PMA
CML Innovative Technologies, of Besancon, France, received FAA PMA approval for its LED replacement for the 387 incandescent lamp.
The system uses warm-white LEDs to offer an incandescent style light while consuming 60 percent less power, according to the company. The CML product offers bi-polar operation and can be fitted in any of the lamp applications. Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions is partnering with Aicas, a Karlsruhe Germany-based provider of Java-based development and analysis tools for real-time and embedded systems.
Aicas will support its JamaicaVM, a hard real-time Java Virtual Machine, on Curtiss-Wright’s open architecture rugged COTS Single Board Computers and Graphic cards.
