Thales will incorporate MAINtag Radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags on all of its new in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems onboard Airbus A350 XWB, A380 and new production Boeing aircraft.
The tags, FLYtag nano low-memory RFID tags, will be placed on new video displays and some servers, the company said Monday. MAINtag is providing the RFID tags as part of a software package for Thales, including its MBOIpad AT2 reader and FLYtag Manager.
FLYtag has a low-memory format, which Thales believes will lead to cost reduction, as there is no need for multiple-record tags.
