Dassault is adding OnAir’s in-flight connectivity system to its 7X jets, enabled by the installation of an in-cabin antenna.

The Leaky Feeder Antenna, developed by W.L. Gore & Associates, provides access to different wireless protocols. The antenna will be installed in the ceilings of the 7X business jets, and are compatible with Bluetooth, DECT, GSM, IRIDIUM Sat and several other communications standards.
Antennas have become an important aspect of the in-flight connectivity model for operators who are looking to increase connection speeds and provide a more reliable connection.
In selecting the Leaky Feeder, Dassault was looking to set up an in-flight connectivity system that would specifically allow passengers to use their own cell phones and electronic devices during flights, rather than using equipment installed on the aircraft, which is a popular in-flight setup for business jet cabins.
“Today, many business jets have an onboard satellite-linked phone system, but passengers usually have to use a wired handset instead of their own devices,” said Adrian Milne, product manager for the Leaky Feeder antenna. “Leaky Feeder Antennas allows passengers to make calls, send texts, and access the Internet in flight just like they do when sitting in their office.”
