L-3 Communications has acquired aerospace and defense systems manufacturer Mustang Technology Group, now re-named L-3 Mustang Technology, the company said Thursday Dec. 19.
The Plano, Texas-based L-3 Mustang develops and manufactures radar-based sensors and systems used in unmanned systems and other military applications. Mustang is projected to generate $36 million in sales for 2013.
Michael T. Strianese, chief executive of L-3, said the acquisition will add new technical synergies and proprietary technologies to L-3’s electronic systems division.
“This is a terrific acquisition, which expands L-3’s DoD and classified business base, and we look forward to integrating Mustang’s technologies into L-3’s existing proprietary fusing and ordnance and unmanned systems products. The results for L-3 customers will be market-disrupting products and product enhancements, which will improve mission effectiveness of guided munitions, as well as a new portfolio of solutions," said Strianese.
