The U.S. Air Force will deploy Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellite terminals under a new $134.3 million contract with Raytheon, the military aerospace manufacturer said Friday, Dec. 27.
Under the contract, the AEHF terminals will be deployed for the Global Aircrew Strategic Network Terminal (Global ASNT) to transmit emergency messages to aircrews during critical nuclear and non-nuclear missions. Fielding of the new terminals is scheduled to begin in 2017.
"Our satellite terminals offer strong connectivity and reliability in the harshest of environments," said Scott Whatmough, vice president of integrated communication systems in Raytheon’s space and airborne systems business.
