[Avionics Today January 31, 2014] The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued a minor change approval (MCA) for the Aspen Avionics Evolution EFD 1000H Pro primary flight display on the Eurocopter AS355.
German avionics aircraft maintenance company Avionik Straubing designed the engineering package for the certification. Instruments de Precision de la Côte Ouest (IPCO) of France partnered with Avionik Straubing to perform the installation. EASA’s minor change approval covers Eurocopter AS355 models AS355E, AS355F, AS355F2, AS355N and AS355NP.
The Evolution 1000H Pro was designed as a replacement for mechanical flight instruments and Aspen continues to expand on authorized installation approvals for this flight display.
Mark Ferrari, vice president of sales at Aspen Avionics said AS355 operators who choose to the upgrade to the EFD will also see reduced maintenance costs through the "replacement of mechanical navigation instruments and spinning has gyros."
