[Avionics Today July 21, 2014] Exelis is providing its GCA-2020 precision ground control approach radar as an Air Traffic Management (ATM) upgrade to the Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG) under a $9 million Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract.

Exelis said the technology will enable SANG to improve its landing guidance and ATM operations in compliance with new flight safety standards. This will be the first Exelis radar to be installed in Saudi Arabia.

"This award deepens our important relationship with Saudi Arabia and the wider region," said Dave Prater, Exelis vice president and general manager of the radar, reconnaissance and undersea systems business. "As a leader in the growing field of intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and analytics, Exelis is committed to supporting our international customers’ evolving missions with these types of critical capabilities."

Over the last nine months, the company has received 12 different international orders for its ATM radars, including from Poland, Sweden, Estonia and Saudi Arabia totaling more than $100 million.
