[Avionics Today 09-17-2014] Kontron has introduced the ACE Flight 600 general-purpose airborne server with an integrated 4G LTE modem. This is an upgrade to the previous ACE Flight Server platform and allows three times more wireless content to be loaded during aircraft turnarounds than the earlier version, according to a statement released by Kontron.

The server is targeted toward advanced communication application requirements for Ethernet-based network installations on both linefit and retrofit aircraft. The new server is qualified to D0-160G and optimized for a full range of flight information systems and allows airlines to build servers for crew and passenger Web access, flight maintenance or manifest, connectivity, wireless content and In-Flight Entertainment (IFE).

“To support the faster connectivity requirements of next-generation avionics flight information systems, the Kontron ACE Flight 600 provides the necessary gateway through which flight crews and ground personnel can access essential onboard information,” said Alan Manns, commercial avionics business line manager at Kontron.
