[Avionics Today 10-20-2014] Dassault has introduced a new Future Air Navigation System (FANS) solution for Falcon operators. The solution features an Iridium-based communications system from Gogo Business Aviation.
FANS avionics are designed to enable data link communications between Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs) and pilots. These capabilities are currently being used for the most optimum oceanic routes between North America and Europe, along the North Atlantic Tracks (NAT). Beginning in 2015, all of the NATS will require FANS equipage to fly the most optimum routes.
""Creating a cost-effective FANS solution for our customers has been a top priority," said John Wade, executive vice president of Gogo Business Aviation. "With the forthcoming mandates, FANS is a very important topic among business aircraft operators in today’s market."
Dassault expects the new solution to be available for Falcon 900, Falcon 2000 and Falcon 7X aircraft beginning in November.
