[Avionics Today 11-12-2014] Jeppesen has introduced a new Electronic Flight Folder (EFF) service that aims to enhance flight-planning operations for airlines. The new EFF service increases situational awareness in flight for pilots and improves ground-to-air communication and integration of digital flight plan information, according to a statement released by Jeppesen.

The system eliminates preparation and handling of paper-based flight planning documents through the wireless delivery of digital flight plan information to an airline’s Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) system. The new EFF supports industry-standard ARINC 633 flight plan data, including text-based weather information, Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), a copy of the dispatched flight release, and a copy of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) flight plan, all in digital form.
