[Avionics Today 02-03-2015] Embraer has completed the first test flight of its next generation aerial refueling tanker, the KC-390. During the 85-minute flight, test pilots and flight test engineers evaluated flying qualities and performance.

“The KC-390 behaved in a docile and predictable manner,” said Mozart Louzada, a test pilot for Embraer. “The advanced fly-by-wire flight control system and the latest-generation avionics make flying easy and render a smooth and precise flight.”
Embraer and the Brazilian Air Force signed an agreement in 2014 to produce and deliver 28 KC-390 aircraft. Purchase intentions have also been confirmed from other countries for a total of 32 additional aircraft.
