[Avionics Today 02-10-2015] Gulfstream’s flight operations test organization has achieved International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) Stage 2 certification. The business jet manufacturer’s flight department fathers 43 pilots conducting more than 2,200 annual test flights on the in-production fleet.

IS-BAO uses a code of best practices for standard operating, scheduling and dispatch procedures to define industry leading flight-testing processes. Gulfstream expects to conduct the first flight of the G500 this year, followed by type certification from the FAA in 2017.

“We pursued this voluntary certification to validate our safety management system processes and best practices and to set a new standard in the business aviation industry. This certification is significant as we begin two flight test programs for the all-new Gulfstream G500 and G600,” said Dan Nale, senior vice president of programs, engineering and test at Gulfstream.
