[Avionics Today 02-17-2015] Satcom Direct has announced the launch of AeroIT to address the need for aircraft technicians to become more knowledgeable about Information Technology (IT) related aspects of installing airborne communication systems. The new certification will provide technicians with training covering network configurations and troubleshooting of satellite communications systems and avionics.

“There is a strong need for IT expertise in the flight department,” said Jim Jensen, Satcom Direct founder and CEO. “Clients told us that they needed a greater understanding of networking, so we developed AeroIT to meet that need.”
Satcom Direct is developing a new test center to host AeroIT certification training at its headquarters in Viera, Fla. The new center will open in late 2015.
