[Avionics Today 05-13-2015] Airbus Group and NEXA Capital Partners announced an agreement to pursue solutions for the widespread commercialization of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). The two companies are exploring ways in which a range of industries could better exploit UAS technology to increase efficiency, drive down costs and improve access. While air vehicles and their payloads continue to evolve, the services market to support their widespread use has been slow to catch up, according to Airbus.
“The employment of unmanned aerial systems in the private sector continues to expand at an exponential rate, but limitations of the current airspace infrastructure are a roadblock to more widespread commercial applications,” said Allan McArtor, Airbus Group chairman and CEO.
