[Avionics Today 05-18-2015] TrueNorth Avionics announced today at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) taking place in Geneva, Switzerland that AMAC Aerospace has installed the company’s Simphone Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication for a Boeing 747-8I aircraft completion. The Simphone Mobile GSM is a private GSM system designed for business jet operators. Passengers and crew can board the plane and use their own personal phones to text and talk without any additional configuration, apps or forwarding service.

“Installing a system specifically geared toward business and VIP private aviation was an important consideration for us, and our clients,” said AMAC Aerospace Group Chief Operating Officer Bernd Schramm. “It’s simple, people want to stay in touch, and they are used to their own phones with their own contact lists. They don’t have time to load additional apps; they just want to make a call like they would anywhere else. The TrueNorth GSM system has allowed us to bring this simplicity to our customers.”
Simphone Mobile GSM is compatible with all quad-band phones and supports Wi-Fi enabled smartphones. The system offers GSM services, including text and talk and has more than 300 global roaming partners. Satcom Direct and Satcom1 are official service partners.
