[Avionics Today 06-03-2015] Research and Markets’ latest report on Flight Navigation Systems (FNS) has found that the global market is estimated at more than 10 billion in 2014. The "Flight Navigation System Market by Product (Avionics systems, Communication systems), Flight Instrument (Altimeter, Gyroscope, Autopilot, Sensors), Application (Commercial, Military) & by Geography- Forecast & Analysis to 2014 – 2020" report saw that the aircraft industry is expecting a huge technological transformation due to NextGen systems.
Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) in Europe is also a factor, mainly focusing at improving air navigation systems to the next level of technology, with the initiation of 4-D trajectory making an impact on the market. Other factors that are expected to influence the market include research currently being conducted to improve the aircraft performance, thereby making aircraft more fuel-efficient.

The flight navigation system market when considered for a short period (five years) cannot be expected to grow fast, according to the report, although there will be a slow but steady growth for this short period of time. In the long run, however, the market can expect to see ample opportunities due to the technological transformation taking place in the aircraft industry for NextGen and SESAR.
