[Avionics Today 06-12-2015] The Colombian Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics (UAEAC) has awarded Rohde & Schwarz a contract to modernize Colombia’s civilian Air Traffic Control (ATC) system over the coming months. The nationwide modernization project will put Colombia in the top rank for civil aviation safety and operational efficiency in Latin America. Rohde & Schwarz will handle the system integration of its own equipment as well as subsystems supplied by third-party companies. The contract calls for the modernization of a total of 106 radio sites, including ATC towers, remote sites and ACCs.

Rohde & Schwarz will provide a range of products and services for the turnkey project in Colombia. R&S will modernize the country’s nationwide ATC infrastructure based on equipment such as R&S Series4200 radios for towers, area control centers (ACC) and remote radio sites. The target completion date is set for February 2016.
