[Avionics Today 06-02-2016] Airbus has awarded Cobham a contract to supply its new digital Radio and Audio Integrated Management System (RAIMS) for the A320neo aircraft family. While the amount is not specified, Cobham released a statement revealing that the major contract is worth several hundred million dollars.
Cobham’s RAIMS, already fitted on Airbus A380 and A350 XWB aircraft series, aims to save space, weight, number of equipment required, acquisition and operation costs, while offering pilots a single point for communication control. The A320 new digital RAIMS is designed with a new digital audio distribution technology and allows Airbus to suppress specific audio routes.
