Norway’s air navigation service provider (ANSP), Avinor, has signed a closed framework agreement with Indra to modernize the country’s air traffic management system. The agreement was initiated with the signing of a contract to implement a training platform to enable air traffic controllers to familiarize themselves with the iTEC system provided by Indra.
The contract will also enable the development of the detailed requirements of the systems that will be implemented in the Avinor ANS control centers.
“This initial contract is an important first stage towards nationwide deployment of our new air traffic management system by mid 2022, enabling us to provide the best possible services to our customers, at the lowest possible price,” said Anders Kirsebom, CEO of Avinor Air Navigation Services.
According to Indra Director General Rafael Gallego, iTEC is a new and very advanced air traffic control system designed to meet the SESAR (Single European Sky ATM R&D) requirements of the European Commission.
