Akka Technologies’ Aeroconseil has received an EASA supplemental type certificate for ATR-42/72 aircraft, the company said. Its localizer performance with vertical guidance (LPV) system can now be installed on board the aircraft.

According to Aeroconseil, its solution “will solve issues encountered by operators landing at destinations airport in process of disengaging their [instrument landing system].”

Esterline’s CMC Electronics is supplying equipment, including the CMA-5024 GPS Precision Approach Receiver and CMA-5025 Control Panel, according to Aeroconseil. LPV operations will have no impact, according to the company, on the existing navigation system. This satellite landing system function is enabled by the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service, managed by the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems Agency and the European Satellite Services Provider.

The launch customer for the product is Air St Pierre. Aeroconseil said an unnamed French operator would be next to receive the solution.
