The Embraer E190-E2 consumes 17.3% less fuel than its predecessor and 10% less than its direct competitor, making it the most efficient jet in its segment, according to Embraer. In testing, the company also found that it is the most environmentally friendly, creating less noise and fewer emissions than competitors.
Embraer says that the E190-E2 fared better in fuel efficiency and takeoff performance in flight tests than the company anticipated allowing for greater range than originally specified. Despite the improvements, a lot will be familiar; Embraer claims that an E1 pilot will only need 2.5 days of training on the E2.
Norwegian airline Widerøe will receive the first E190-E2 delivery and has its inaugural flight planned within the next few months.
