VIAVI Solutions will purchase Cobham’s wireless test and measurement and AvComm connectivity branches for $455 million. Both company’s boards have approved the sale, which is expected to close later this year pending regulatory approval.
Viavi, which primarily produces network testing and monitoring solutions, was formerly part of JDSU Uniphase corporation before that company split into Viavi and Lumentum Holdings in 2015. The U.S.-based company said that Cobham’s AvComm and wireless test and measurement businesses generated more than $200 million during calendar year 2017, which it expects to be repeated.
“Together, we expect new opportunities to grow through channel expansion and technology sharing as we address rapidly emerging opportunities in 5G, software-defined and virtualized test,” said Viavi CEO Oleg Khaykin.
