Boeing has signed Lord Corp. to the biggest contract in the latter company’s 94-year history, producing the autothrottle modules for 737 MAX cockpits.
The autothrottle module is an electromechanical system fitted into the cockpit as an interface between the pilot and the flight computer systems. It can work in manual configuration or connect to the autopilot system of the aircraft.
Lord said that the system design, which begins this year, will be led by its team in France and supported by the U.S. team. Manufacturing will take place in both locations once production kicks off in 2020.
